He started his undergraduate education in 1999 at Bursa UludaÄŸ University Mechanical Engineering Department and he completed graduate education by being awarded the degree of Master of Science (Msc) in 2003 and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in 2012 at UludaÄŸ University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences - Mechanical Engineering Department. It was the first years of the new millennium that he first acquainted with Renewable Energy at his undergraduate education and he carry on his graduate and post-doctoral researches and projects at the same topic. He experimentally studied on ground sourced heat pump systems in MSc thesis and solar cooling and heating in PhD.

Dr. Bilsay PASTAKKAYA was born on 3th February 1982 in Bursa Turkey as the second child of his parents/first teachers, Selma Åžerife & Ali YaÅŸar Pastakkaya. He discovered the love of nature and the consciousness of being at his early ages. He began his primary education in Güneyköy elementary school at his five, and after five years, he moved to Yalova with his family for middle school education. In 1999, he graduated from Yalova High School and it was the same year, it was the first time for him to discover “Sustainability” by the experience of the fatality of the “ferroconcrete” lifestyle in Marmara Earthquake.

He first began his academic career in Bursa UludaÄŸ University Orhangazi Vocational College and Yalova Vocational College in 2005. For the awareness of a sustainable future, he assigned as a founding counsellor of the UludaÄŸ University Energy Society to contribute on the education of the new generation and performed many projects with his students in 2011. He received Associate Prof. Dr. title in Mechanical Engineering in 2024.

Ace. Prof. Dr. Bilsay Pastakkaya is the Head of Mechanical & Metal Technology Department in Bursa UludaÄŸ University OVC and continues his researches particularly on National Security / Energy-Education-Technology (NS-EET), Clean & Renewable Energy Applications, Energy Conversion in Industry and Sustainable&Eco Structures, national and international scale.
Dr. Pastakkaya actualized international researches in doctorate. He was invited by Prof. Yogi Goswami from University of south Florida and performed a study on innovative cooling systems in 2010. In 2011, he made a research on a new trigeneration applications in University of Stuttgart and as a visiting fellow in 2015; he got a chance to study in University of Nottingham with Prof. Saffa Riffat, within the scope of his post-doctoral researches on sustainable buildings and eco-houses. He also participated in many national and international projects as a project manager, research fellow research specialist and advisor.
